Meet Our Members: Mo, Founder at Doorkeeper Legal
Introduction
From a childhood dream of professional rugby league to founding his own law firm, Mo’s journey has been shaped by resilience, ambition, and a genuine desire to help people. Today, he combines his passion for business and law to support clients through some of the most important decisions they’ll make.

Mo is the founder of Doorkeeper Legal, a boutique corporate law firm built on a simple idea: legal services should be exceptional without feeling inaccessible.
The firm works across a broad range of practice areas, including corporate and commercial contracts, securitisation, finance and structuring, property, insolvency, intellectual property, and dispute resolution. But for Mo, the work goes beyond technical expertise.
“The firm goal is to re-write the assumptions about lawyers by providing top tier work and experience at affordable prices,” he explains. “We focus on client experiences and ensure all of our clients’ needs are met and that they are satisfied with the service.”
It’s an approach that reflects the way he sees law as a profession. While many people think of legal work as contracts, disputes, and technical advice, Mo sees something more human underneath it all.
His path into founding a law firm wasn’t immediate. He spent the early years of his career working in both mid-tier and top-tier firms, gaining experience across Australian and international matters. The experience was invaluable, but over time he realised he wanted something different.
“I decided that I didn’t want to be a corporate slave and wanted to help people,” he says candidly.
That decision led him to leave big law and partner with his former boss to launch Doorkeeper Legal in 2019. Starting a firm at a relatively young age came with plenty of challenges, but it also became one of the achievements he’s proudest of.
“Definitely being able to start a firm at a young age,” he says when asked about career milestones.
The entrepreneurial side of the business is something that has always appealed to him. “I have always had a passion for business and law so I chose a career which would allow me to explore both.”
Just as importantly, he wanted a career where he could make a meaningful difference. “I always wanted to feel like I was helping people and making some sort of a difference, which makes my current role much more rewarding because I thoroughly enjoy helping people start and operate and grow their businesses.”
Interestingly, law wasn’t always the plan.
Growing up, Mo dreamed of becoming a professional rugby league player. That dream came to an abrupt end after rupturing his ACL four separate times.
“My dream when I was younger was to play professional rugby league,” he says. “I ruptured my ACL in my right knee four times, so that put an end to that dream early on.”
Instead of letting the setback define him, he redirected that energy elsewhere. “It sparked me to put all my energy into my law degree and subsequent career.”
Looking back, it’s easy to see how that resilience continues to shape the way he approaches challenges today.
Outside of work, sport still plays a huge role in his life. He describes himself as a “huge sports fan”, particularly when it comes to cricket, rugby league, and MMA. Rather than just watching from the sidelines, he still gets involved wherever he can.
“I play oztag, rugby league and cricket which help keep me sane.”
Travel is another passion. When asked about personal goals, his answer is simple: “I love to travel and would like to explore a few more countries this year.”
As part of getting to know our members a little better, we always love uncovering the details that make people unique. For Mo, one of those fun facts is his family.
“I come from a huge Lebanese family and have over 80 first cousins.”
It’s the kind of answer that immediately explains why community and relationships seem to matter so much to him.
The best advice he’s received throughout his legal career speaks directly to the way he works with clients today.
“In law, clients will come to us for various reasons but the thing they all have in common is that they need help with something important.”
For him, that creates a responsibility to genuinely listen.
“This means that listening to them and being genuine in your approach, even if it might not be what they want to hear, is the best way to get the client to where they want to be.”
It’s advice that feels increasingly valuable in any profession built on trust.
When he’s working from here, Stop Valve is usually the first stop of the day. “Stop Valve is my go to for coffee and food.”
But more than any café, it’s the people that keep him coming back.
“The best thing about Desk Space is the people and the community feeling,” he says. “I have met some incredible people here and love coming to work every day and being able to talk to friendly and genuine people.”
That sense of connection is something many members mention, and Mo’s answer captures it perfectly.
If he wasn’t practising law, he thinks he’d still be close to the world of sport. “I wouldn’t have a clue,” he laughs. “Probably something in the professional sports world like a player agent.”
And when it comes to recommendations, there’s no hesitation whatsoever.
“The Simpsons!” he says. “It is the greatest show ever made.”
Simple, confident, and difficult to argue with.
We’re so happy and honoured to have thoughtful, driven, and community-minded members like Mo in our community. His commitment to helping people, both through his work and the relationships he builds, is exactly what makes this place special.
